It's 2016, You Dont Have To Be Jacked To Be Fit

With the New Year comes new resolutions. On top of the list of resolutions ranks "losing weight" which has been the undisputed champ for years now. And lately I've noticed the increasing obsession in the media, from fitness influencers and amongst gym goers, about becoming absolutely shredded. Let me tell you right now, becoming absolutely shredded should never be your goal. Unless you're competing!

For those who are overweight or unhappy with their body, being shredded is ultimately the ideal body out there. But does it equate to you being fit?

The answer is yes ...... and no.

In case you need some clarification on what fit is;

fit1
fit/
adjective
  1. 1.
    In good health, especially because of regular physical exercise.

It is clear as night and day that those who are shredded AF exercise on the regular. But we cannot always judge a book by its cover. Many bodybuilders diet to get the shape and lean body mass that they strive for, yet many bodybuilders also juice in order to reach the same feats.

And when I say juice, I'm not talking about Tropicana. I am referring to drug use of some sort of growth hormone or anabolic steroid, so pick and choose wisely who you want to be your role model or hashtag "#BodyGoals."

I digress.

The best way to get fit is simply by taking the time and effort to educate yourself about your body and how it works. From how the body digests calories from foods to how it breaks down lipids through lipolysis.

Once you arm yourself with the knowledge (Which you can find in hundreds of articles throughout this blog FYI), losing weight or reaching whatever goal you set in 2016 becomes exponentially attainable.

So I challenge you all in 2016 to get in the best shape as you possibly can (Or at least until the New Year's Resolution motivation wears off) WITHOUT putting emphasis on getting jacked or shredded

You don't have to have your body fat down to 4% in order to prevent plaque buildup in your arteries, or to fit into your brand new jeans, or to even get that attention from that special someone.

Find out your BMI and BMR, learn about your body type (Endomorph, Mesomorph, Ectomorph), educate yourself about the best whole foods that work for your body, get rid of processed and sugar saturated foods, train for your specific body type, and make 2016 your bitch.

Don't wait for tomorrow because the time for growth and change does not start in the future. It starts at the very moment you decided to make a goal. Anyhow good luck in 2016 and Happy Lifting!
